FAQ – WebApp -  Set Default to auto-hide deadlines for a rule-set

 

Requirements:

1. Before starting check with LawToolBox to verify you have a designated "expert" user in your organization who can set these defaults for you.


2. To use this feature you need to be designated as an expert or admin with access to the “Firm Admin” 

"Select user"


How to set up the templates:

  • Log into LawToolBox 
  • Select the Firm Admin user from the “My Users” pull-down list 
  • Click “Set Up Case”

"Set up case"



Name the case:

Defaults–Rule-set 

(e.g., -Defaults-CA State–Superior Court–Civil-LA County)


1. Choose the rule-set that you would like to set hidden defaults for

e.g. Los Angeles Civil


2. Do not share the case to any users or add deadlines to calendars 


3. Calculate

Enter the trigger dates from which you would like to set defaults for.  

Note: When choosing the trigger you can select trigger date in the past so that deadlines don’t appear in your firm calendar’s data range reports


4. Search

Search for the deadlines to be auto-hidden

(e.g. Command + F to search for “by mail to at least 1 party outside the US”)


5. Hide

Check the "Hide" box to right of each deadline

Click “hide” in top right  for all selected items 

6. Save as template

Click “save” at the bottom of the deadline chart to save current state of hidden deadlines for new deadlines generated 




6. Success

click "Deadline chart" to review

 

7. Template is saved

 
NOTE 1: While you cannot change the short deadline descriptions and save as default you can add “Case Notes” for a deadline and save as default so that a deadline that will appear in long descriptions in calendar entries and reports that filter to show long descriptions (and email reminders depending on which LawToolBox platform you subscribe to).

NOTE 2: This feature does not allow you to “edit deadlines” and save as default for a rule-set.  Please DO NOT edit deadlines.  If you would like to propose a deadline wording change please email support@lawtoolbox.com so we can look at making your proposed deadline change apply to the rule-set for all our customers.  We value your feedback.
