LawToolBox provides several ways to track the Statute of Limitations date (SOL)

Question: Do you want the SOL reminders in Outlook Calendars? Or as email reminders?

To calculate the SOL reminders, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Due Date calculator (Outlook Calendar)

1. Create a matter
2. Select your ruleset e.g. Pre-Litigation
3. Enter your Date of Alleged loss of injury 

Calculate: Date of Loss

Note: No deadlines get calculated for date of loss trigger date

You are responsible for determining the Statute of Limitations expiration date.

Below FAQ follows a two year example:

• Two years from date of loss 11/03/2025
• SOL Expires 11/03/2027

Step 2: Create SOL Reminders 

1. Option 1: Due Date Calculation
2. Option 2: Appointment + Reminders
3. Option 3: Recurring event

*You can use a combination of these options at your discretion

Option 1:

Calculate: SOL Countdown

Use the date when SOL Expires as your trigger date

SOL Expires (11/03/2027, two years from date of loss 11/03/2025) 

Name your Due Date events

Add both the date SOL expires
Add the date of injury

Create an manual deadline from +Event for the date your SOL expries

SOL Expires (11/03/2027)

Create reminders you want:

One event in Outlook for day of SOL

Additional email reminders scheduled for 120,90,60,30,14,7,2,1 days before the deadlines

Option 3:

Add Recurring Appointment

Create an manual deadline from +Event

Select your start date as Month or two before SOL expires (09/03/2027)

Select your end date as day the SOL Expires (11/03/2027)

Select your cadence as weekly or bi-weekly

Add your description and save

Now you have a weekly deadline for two months for the Statute of Limitations expiring on 11/03/2027
