Welcome to your Free Trial of LawToolBox! We are excited that you are interested in purchasing our platform, and we hope that this brief look shows you that we are the best fit your the needs of your practice.

Please begin by watching the short video below. This video will demonstrate and walk you through the primary features we recommend you explore during you 5 calculations or 7 days of your LawToolBox trial.

Details of your Free Trial:

Your Free Trial lasts for 5 calculations or 7 days, whichever you reach first.

  • 5 calculations - This is 5 uses of calculating all of the deadlines based off of your selected trigger. This does not include the ad hoc deadlines or appointments you can add to a matter with the +Event/Add Deadline or Appointment feature.
  • 7 days - This is 7 calendar days of access. Meaning your trial will expire after that seventh day regardless of how many of your 5 calculations you have used.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are unable to login to your account, chances are your Free Trial has expired. Please reach out to your Sales Representative for more information.

Additionally, you will be notified within your Deadline Chart that your Free Trial has ended. You will not longer see your individual deadlines, and will instead see a notification as shown below.

Recommendations:

  • Create a New Matter - We recommend using a test matter, as opposed to calendaring for a real case. This will allow you to explore, create and edit deadlines, and make mistakes without affecting the real-world work you currently have.
  • Ruleset Selection - We have extensive rulesets for all 50 states and a moderate selection of countries outside the US. We recommend using the ruleset that the majority of your cases take place in.
  • Trigger Selection - We recommend basing your selected trigger on two factors. First, pick a trigger that is common within the cases you have previously worked for salient examples of what you will see in the future. Second, select a trigger that will provide you multiple deadlines.
    • After selecting a trigger, you will see the number of deadlines that will be calculated below the dropdown.
    • More deadlines give you more events to experiment with, and helps you extend those 5 individual calculations you are limited to.
    • Examples include your ruleset's version of Commencement Date, and Trial.
  • Adding Users to Your Matter - To make the most of your 5 calculations, we recommend adding all of your users that you have signed up for the Free Trial to this new matter. This will allow them to explore the deadlines that have been calculated, and limits the impact on your Outlook calendar to only events for your test matter.
  • Action Menu - The action menu of each individual deadline has a host of options to edit and add to your calendar events. Take some time to explore these features, specifically adding labels, notes, and links.
    • Open the action menu by clicking the ellipsis on the left side of any deadline on the Deadline Chart.
  • +Event - This feature is to allow you to add appointments and deadlines not based on a court rule. These also do not count as calculations. In addition to getting fundamentally familiar with this feature, we recommend exploring the +/- calculator and the variety of recurring options when you schedule over a span of time beyond just a single day.
  • Reports - There are two general types of reports to explore. These will be run weekly, if not daily, and are an important piece of LawToolBox to have a firm grasp on.
    • Matter Report - These are run within the deadline chart using the "Reports" button next to the "Sync" button. This will provide a report of all the deadlines for this specific matter.
    • Reports Across All Matters - Navigate to the Waffle Icon and select reports. Explore the variety of reports you can run across all matters for a user.
  • Outlook Calendar - Sync your deadlines to your calendar to see how events will appear in the future. Expand the event on your calendar to see a longer description of the event, and any of the additions you have made to your deadline.
    • Labels - You will see your Label in the title and beginning of the event.
    • Notes - Any notes you add will appear below the description of the deadline.
    • Links -  Any links that you add will appear below your notes alongside the Court Authority, which is added by                 default.
    • Tags - Added tags appear towards the bottom of the event.
